MiaChiesaSet Google Calendar rules for place, type and colour
Have MiaChiesa assign church, type and colour automatically to events imported from Google Calendar, based on words in the title, description or address.
Open Google Calendar in Integrations
Open Settings → Integrations and select the Google Calendar row, shown as “connected”. The dialog opens with the connection details: account, calendar, Connection and period.
Read the existing rules
Scroll to Automatic mapping rules: “Assign place, type and colour to events imported from Google based on their text.” The Location, Type and Color tabs show how many rules each type has.
Each rule shows the text to search in quotes, where to look for it (for example “Search in: Title, Address”) and the result. Rules with the Auto badge are created at connection time, one per place of worship. The switch next to a rule pauses it without deleting it.
Add a rule
Select Add. In the New mapping rule dialog choose the Rule type: Place of worship, Event type or Color.
In Text to search type a word that appears in the Google events, for example “Oratory” or the name of a church: search is case-insensitive. In Search in keep or untick Title, Description and Address. Then choose the result: the place in Assign to, the type (Mass, Confessions, Meeting, Catechism…) or the colour. Select Add: the rule is saved straight away.
Understand which rule wins
At every sync MiaChiesa looks for the text of each active rule in the title, description or address of the Google event. For each type the first rule that finds its text wins: the same event can take its place from one rule, its type from another and its colour from a third.
Rules you create are tried before the Auto ones; among equals, older rules first. There is no order to drag: if two rules overlap, make the text more specific or pause the one you don’t need. If no rule matches, the default place and type chosen at connection apply; without a default place the Google event’s address is kept.
Rules apply to the events Google sends from the following syncs, new or changed. Editing an Auto rule turns it into a normal rule; deleting is immediate and “Rule deleted” appears.
What you have achieved
- Events imported from Google get their church, type and colour automatically.
- You know which rule wins when several rules find the same text.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see Automatic mapping rules
The connection must receive events from Google (From Google to MiaChiesa only, or Two-way). With From MiaChiesa to Google only the section does not appear.
An event got the wrong church
Another Location rule found its text first. Make the text to search more specific, untick a field in Search in or pause the rule that gets in the way.
I changed a rule but an old event does not change
Rules apply to the events Google sends in the following syncs. An event already imported updates when it changes on Google.
The dialog’s Add button stays disabled
You need a text to search, at least one field in Search in and a result (place, type or colour).
