Connect Stripe to receive payments

Connect the community’s Stripe account to collect offerings, event and catechism payments online, then check balance and payouts.

Open Payments

Open Settings → Payments. Until Stripe is connected, the Stripe connection card shows the status “not connected” and the Connect with Stripe button, also found at the top of the page.

Connecting is free and takes a few minutes: payments go straight to the community’s bank account.

Get the details ready

Below the button you see what you need: the legal representative’s ID document, the IBAN that receives payouts and the organisation’s Tax ID. Keep them at hand before you start.

Complete the connection on Stripe

Select Connect with Stripe: Stripe’s secure process opens. Enter the requested details; when you finish you come back to Payments.

When everything is in order the card shows Stripe account connected with the Active status, and Receive payments and Bank credits are active. If Stripe still needs details you see Configuration in progress: use Continue on Stripe. With Verification in progress there is nothing to do.

Check balance and payouts

The Payouts and balance card shows the available balance, amounts in transit, what was paid out in the last 30 days and the payout IBAN. Export transactions downloads the list of transactions.

IBAN and cadence are changed on Stripe: use Change IBAN on Stripe or Payout frequency, or Open Stripe dashboard at the top. You can now set up donations and event and catechism payments in the tabs at the bottom of the page.

Know the fees

Every online payment has two fees. Stripe’s is shown on the account card when you open Stripe Fees: 1.5% + €0.25 for European cards and 2.5% + €0.25 for non-EU cards. It does not depend on the MiaChiesa plan.

The MiaChiesa fee depends on the plan: 5% with Base, 3% with Essentials, 1.5% with Pro, 0% with Max. In a Merged pastoral unit the unit’s plan applies to the payments of all its parishes.

What you have achieved

The community’s Stripe account is connected and active.
You can receive online payments and set up donations, events and catechism.

Troubleshooting

I see “Configuration in progress”

Stripe needs more details. Select Continue on Stripe and complete the remaining steps.

I see “Limited account”

Stripe asks for a verification. Select Complete verification and send what is missing.

I see “Error connecting to Stripe”

The connection did not start. Try again in a moment.

I can’t see the Donations and Events tabs

They appear only when Stripe is connected and active.
